Division
The private advanced R&D, astronaut development, and special-projects division of Tutt Aerospace.
BFD develops architectures, methods, hardware, intellectual property, data systems, and human operating capability for programs requiring unusual technical breadth, discretion, and end-to-end ownership.
Current work spans:
The operating model keeps systems architecture, procurement, fabrication, simulation, testing, field operations, facility work, and business creation close to the same people. The standard is to understand the architecture, build the hardware, operate the system, and maintain the environment that makes the work possible.
BFD is developing a flight-qualified practitioner cadre for future aerospace research, test, and orbital missions. Members cross-train across technical, aviation, maritime, extreme-environment, business, and global field disciplines.
Participation is through the Black Flag Discovery private membership association. It is not employment. It is lifestyle immersion.
Program structure, selection, and training progression are in work.
Black Flag Data Labs operates within BFD and develops CAMEL, a deterministic contract-and-content-addressable architecture for AI routing, memory, verification, and agent systems.
